Questions, answered
How does the cocktail matcher work?
Tick the spirits and liqueurs you have at home and we compare them against every recipe on barorder. You instantly see the cocktails you can make right now, the ones you’re a single bottle away from, and which bottle would unlock the most new drinks.
Do I need syrups, bitters or fresh citrus to count as a match?
Spirits, liqueurs, bitters and syrups all count. Syrups are quick to make yourself though — Demerara, simple syrup, grenadine and orgeat all link straight to the recipe from the matcher, so a missing syrup is a five-minute fix, not a shopping trip. Fresh lemons, limes and oranges never count — that’s a supermarket trip, not a bar purchase.
What should I buy next for my home bar?
The matcher ranks your “next bottle” by value: for each spirit you don’t own, it counts how many new cocktails that one bottle would unlock with what you already have, and sorts the list so the highest-impact bottle comes first.
Can I save my bar?
