The Scofflaw is a Prohibition classic. The term was derived in Europe to poke fun at Americans and their prohibited approach to alcohol, or it was created in America as a derogatory way to refer to the lawless drinker (like most cocktails histories, it’s unclear.) What is clear is the Scofflaw’s place on our favourites list. If you love whiskey, you need to try this cocktail. If you’re getting into whiskey, or would like to, this is a perfect way to start. This cocktail is made with rye whiskey and we have selected a high proof spicy one, that is complimented by grenadine to sweeten, lemon juice to balance and bitters to round off some of the deep barrel notes into a dry orange. The dry vermouth adds richness and light botanicals. This is a really flavourful and bright drink, made with these spirits you’ll have a complex and tasty Scofflaw.
