Pendennis Club

Fruity flavoured gin

Origin

The Pendennis Club is a private members club that still runs today, in Louisville, Kentucky. It is one of the most ‘prestigious’ clubs in the US, so we assume attendance is by invitation only. This club has produced many cocktails that bear its name. This cocktail’s fame dates back to 1939, as printed in The Gentleman's Companion by Charles Baker. There is print of earlier versions of this cocktail as far back as 1908, however.

How to make it

1. Add the ingredients to a cocktail shaker
2. Add ice and shake for 10-12 seconds
3. Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass

On the nose you get the sweet apricot and citrus. On tasting this drink has a very different taste from start to end. Initially, it's sweet and fruity and at the end the dry sour-style comes through. Subtle apricot flavour mixed with lemon and delicate gin botanicals, an amazing drink. If you love a G&T and especially flavoured gins, this is the cocktail for you.

Enjoy!
